Why do I support BCRF/BCRFA?

My mom was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009 when I was a senior in high school, she actually completed her final round of treatment the week that her and my dad moved me into my college dorm. Shortly thereafter my mom was declared in remission!

When I was in college, my mom and I had the unique opportunity to take a trip to NYC sponsored by BCRF and Delta. We were able to sit in seminars and learn about the important research that was being funded by BCRF. We were able to talk to the researchers, ask them questions, pick their brains and find out why they were so passionate about their research.

Life went on as usual and it wouldn't be until nearly 7-years later that my mom would be diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer at the age of 50. Hearing a cancer diagnosis once is hard enough - but hearing it twice, absolutely heartbreaking. My mom fought a long and hard 5-year battle, many doctors visits, many rounds of chemo, experimental trials, the works really. She positivity and joy for life never wavered.

So long story short, I support BCRF/BCRFA because the research they are doing could some day save another person the heartbreak of losing their loved one to breast cancer.
